Wildfires trigger emergency responses in Teramo and Naples
Multiple wildfires have broken out in different regions of Italy, prompting significant emergency responses involving ground crews and aerial support.
In the Teramo province, fires erupted in the San Pietro area and between Villa Stanchieri and Miano. The blaze near Miano covered approximately three hectares and threatened residential areas and a photovoltaic field. Firefighters deployed multiple teams and aerial assets, including the Drago 158 and an Erickson S-64F Cochise helicopter, to combat the flames. One man was reportedly injured while attempting to fight the fire independently.
In the Naples area, a large fire broke out in the hilly San Paolo Bel Sito region. Emergency services focused on creating barriers to protect homes from the advancing flames. The operation required the use of a Canadair aircraft and an Erickson S-64 helicopter to reach difficult terrain. While the fire was contained near residential buildings, extinguishing operations continued to address remaining hotspots.
