Wildfires trigger evacuations and road closures across Wales

Multiple wildfires are impacting various regions across Wales, prompting emergency responses and evacuations.

In the Rhandirmwyn area near Llandovery, a Major Incident remains in place. The Mid and West Wales Fire and Rescue Service is working to contain active fire behavior and hotspots, supported by helicopters performing water drops. Due to the fire's proximity, several residential properties have been evacuated, and a rest center has been established at the Llandovery Leisure Centre. Mutual aid is being provided by fire services from North Wales and Lancashire.

In South Wales, a grass fire has broken out on the mountain at Cilfynydd, near Pontypridd Golf Club. South Wales Police have closed roads in both directions between Penheol Ely Road and Eglwysilan Road. Crews from Abercynon, Caerphilly, and Merthyr Tydfil are attending the scene. This incident follows previous reports of wildfires in the region, including one near Pleasant Heights in Porth where four teenagers were arrested.
