Wildlife recovery efforts show success in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Serbia

Conservation and rescue efforts are yielding positive results for wildlife in the Balkan region. On Majevica in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a deer herd has successfully produced seven new calves this year. This follows a challenging reintroduction initiative two years ago, where local hunters and residents provided food and monitoring to ensure the animals' survival.

In Serbia, a foal named Zvezdana is recovering at a zoo corner in Kamenica after being found exhausted and frozen on Suva Planina. The foal, which was entangled in branches and thorns, was rescued by forestry engineers and is currently receiving specialized care and substitute milk from the ‘Zoo Planet’ Association to stabilize its health.
