Wildlife rescue operations reported in Brazil and the United States

In Brazil, law enforcement and environmental agencies have conducted several wildlife rescue operations. During the sixth phase of Operation Protetor dos Biomas in Alagoas, the Environmental Police Battalion (BPA) seized 442 wild animals, including various birds and tortoises, from illegal trade and irregular captivity across five municipalities. The animals were transferred to the Ibama Wildlife Triage Center (Cetas) for veterinary evaluation and potential release into the wild.

In Niterói, a 2.24-meter-long, 62-kilogram yellow-spotted caiman was rescued from a storm drain in the Itaipu neighborhood. Following a specialized operation by Inea and the Serra da Tiririca State Park, the healthy reptile was released into the Camboatá Canal.

In the United States, a sheep named Nicole was rescued from a farm in New York and relocated to the Woodstock Farm Sanctuary. The animal had faced the threat of being culled after losing her offspring and failing to provide economic profit to her previous farm.
