Vietnam's 'Chị chị em em 3' adds male lead Steven Nguyễn, set for Oct 16 release

The third installment of the Vietnamese film series "Chị chị em em" has completed filming in Bắc Ninh and entered post‑production. For the first time the series features a male lead, actor Steven Nguyễn, whose character was not in the original script but was added during development. Producer Will Vũ said the role brings a surprising element to the story.

Kỳ Duyên returns as the female lead Thị Mầu, a figure from northern Vietnamese folklore, while the new teaser and poster showcase bold images of the two protagonists. Over 120 crew members worked on the project, and the release date was moved up to 16 October to coincide with Vietnamese Women’s Day.

The film is positioned as a continuation of the franchise’s focus on women’s stories, now expanded with a central male character, and is expected to attract audiences later this month.
