Production of Vietnamese film Chị chị em em 3

Production details for the third installment of the Vietnamese film series ‘Chị chị em em’ have emerged, highlighting a shift in the franchise’s narrative structure. Producer Will Vũ stated that the film aims to differentiate itself from previous entries by expanding beyond stories centered solely on women to include a multi-character storyline.

For the first time in the series, a male lead has been introduced. Actor Steven Nguyễn will play a character described as ‘clever’, ‘agile’, and ‘decisive’, with involvement in ‘gambling’. This role was added during development to provide a surprising element to the story.

Kỳ Duyên returns as the lead character Thị Mầu, a figure from northern Vietnamese folklore. While the film continues the franchise’s focus on women’s stories, the addition of a central male character is intended to expand the cinematic universe. The project has completed filming in Bắc Ninh and entered post-production, with a release date set for 16 October to coincide with Vietnamese Women’s Day.
