William Ruto brokers ODM-UDA truce in Mombasa
President William Ruto has brokered a peace agreement between leaders of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) and the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) in Mombasa. Addressing the ongoing supremacy battles within the county, Ruto urged leaders from both parties to cease public spats and work together, noting that they are part of a broad-based government.
Ruto emphasized that the two factions should view themselves as siblings and unite against the United Opposition, whom he described as having no clear agenda or policies. He called for amicable dispute resolution to maintain stability within the administration.
During his visit, the President also criticized certain political figures, specifically targeting Senator Edwin Sifuna and the Linda Mwananchi faction. He accused them of engaging in extortion through roadside fundraisers and warned residents and traders against contributing to such campaigns.
