Wilma De Angelis, Italian singer and TV host, dies at 96

Italian singer and television personality Wilma De Angelis has passed away in Milan at the age of 96.

De Angelis rose to prominence through the Sanremo Music Festival, debuting in 1959 with the song ‘Nessuno’ and later achieving success with ‘Quando vien la sera’ in 1960. She became a pop icon known as ‘Miss Patatina’ following her 1961 single ‘Patatina’ and was noted for her memorable duet with Mina on the program ‘Canzonissima’.

In the late 1970s, she transitioned into a successful television career as the host of ‘Telemenù’, Italy’s first show dedicated entirely to show cooking, a role she held for eighteen years.

Her funeral was held at the San Luigi Gonzaga church in Milan’s Corvetto district, where she was born. During the service, her coffin was adorned with yellow roses, and her signature song ‘Nessuno’ was played to honor her memory.
