Winda Lorenza death in Medan sparks murder investigation

The family of Winda Lorenza, a woman whose former husband is a police officer, filed a murder report with the North Sumatra Police (Polda Sumatera Utara) after she was found dead in a house in Medan on 3 August 2026. The filing, made by her father Sanalui Gowasa and supported by the lawyer Paul Junisu Jethro Tambunan, challenges the initial police statement that the death was a suicide involving the ex‑husband’s firearm. The family points to bruises on the face, head and body and a cut on the leg that they say are inconsistent with a self‑inflicted gunshot.

The relatives are demanding a thorough investigation and full disclosure of the facts surrounding the case, citing the involvement of a police officer as a factor that complicates the inquiry. The report was logged under case number LP/B 1286/VIII/2026/SPKT/POLDA SUMATERA UTARA.
