Initially, her family filed a murder report with the North Sumatra Police, challenging an earlier police assessment that her death was a suicide involving her ex-husband’s firearm. The family cited physical injuries, including bruises on the face, head, and body, which they claim are “inconsistent with a self-inflicted gunshot.”
Separately, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has launched an investigation to determine if the deceased is the same individual previously summoned as a witness in a corruption case involving the Directorate General of Customs and Excise. A witness by the name of Windah Lorenza Gowasa had been scheduled for examination in April 2026 regarding illegal importation of goods but failed to appear. The KPK is working to confirm her identity to assist in asset-tracing efforts related to the bribery case.
