Winnipeg fire kills one, injures three in separate incidents

On Friday afternoon a fire broke out in a two‑storey apartment building on Ross Avenue in Winnipeg's north end. Firefighters arrived to heavy black smoke, controlled the blaze within about half an hour and found one man dead in the unit where the fire started.

Early Saturday morning a second blaze erupted at a two‑storey house on Flora Avenue. Fire crews rescued three residents trapped inside; all were taken to hospital, with one in unstable condition and two in stable condition. Both fires are under investigation by Winnipeg fire officials and police.
