Winter Fishing Tourism Thrives at Laguna Sauce Grande in Buenos Aires Province

During the cold months, the lagoons of Buenos Aires Province, especially Laguna Sauce Grande, become a hotspot for pejerrey sport‑fishing. Tourists from the region and beyond travel to Monte Hermoso, about 100 km from Bahía Blanca, to combine fishing with local gastronomy, notably at Restaurante Biguá, and to explore surrounding villages.

The 3,000‑hectare lagoon, fed by the Sauce Grande River, offers ideal conditions for the prized pejerrey, which locals describe as large and vigorous. Management of the fish stock is credited with maintaining quality catches year after year. Beyond angling, the Club de Pesca runs regattas and water‑sports such as kitesurfing, windsurfing, water‑skiing, jet‑skiing and kayaking, providing a year‑round recreational agenda.

The combination of natural scenery, culinary offerings, and diverse water activities turns a simple fishing trip into a multi‑day tourist experience that supports local businesses and promotes sustainable use of the lagoon.
