WIOCC Group secures $300 million for African digital infrastructure
WIOCC Group has secured a combined $300 million strategic investment from the Africa Finance Corporation (AFC) and Vision International Investment Company. The agreement was signed during the LEAP 2026 Global Technology exhibition in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The capital is intended to accelerate the expansion of WIOCC’s digital infrastructure platform across more than 30 African countries. Key objectives include the deployment and consolidation of data centers, the expansion of open-access terrestrial fiber footprints, and investments in additional subsea infrastructure.
This investment aims to address the growing demand for cloud computing, artificial intelligence, and digital services on the continent. According to data cited by the company, Africa’s internet usage stood at approximately 35.7% in 2025, significantly lower than the global average of 73.6%. Samaila Zubairu, President and CEO of AFC, stated that digital infrastructure is now as critical to economic development as transport and energy networks.
