A Marquette University Law School poll released after more than 112,000 absentee ballots were returned showed Hong with a significant lead over her rivals.

Local voter Sarah Miller, a software engineer from Madison, described the contest as a test of how far Democrats will swing left, noting the “real” divide between progressives and moderates. The primary winner will face Republican U.S. Rep. Tom Tiffany, a staunch Trump supporter, in the November general election. The race follows recent primaries in Michigan and Minnesota that also highlighted intra‑party battles.
