Wisconsin Gov. Democratic Primary: Francesca Hong Leads Poll

A Marquette University Law School poll of 838 Wisconsin voters, conducted July 8‑16, found State Rep. Francesca Hong ahead in the Democratic race for governor. Hong captured roughly 26‑27% of the vote, while former Lt. Gov. Mandela Barnes trailed at about 15‑18%. Nearly half of Democratic respondents – 45% in one sample and 48% in another – said they were still undecided.

The poll was taken before Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley re‑entered the race after briefly withdrawing, and it did not include Crowley or former Lt. Gov. Sara Rodriguez, who dropped out earlier in the month. The survey also noted a close hypothetical general‑election matchup against Republican Tom Tiffany. A follow‑up poll is scheduled for July 29 to gauge any shifts after recent campaign developments.
