Wisconsin man in custody after human remains found in home

Benjamin Carl Larson has been taken into custody in Fond du Lac County, Wisconsin, following a search of his home that uncovered human remains and items related to serial killers. Larson was already facing a felony stalking charge in Dane County, involving a woman he allegedly pursued through letters, emails, and gifts from 2013 through 2026.

During an August 14 search of Larson’s rural residence, investigators discovered human skulls, a mummified body, and various items associated with notorious serial killers, including materials related to Ed Gein and a jar allegedly containing part of John Wayne Gacy’s brain. Larson also possessed items belonging to the stalking victim, such as an earring.

A preliminary examination by a forensic anthropologist suggests the remains may be ancient Native American rather than modern human. Specialized testing is currently underway to determine the age and origin of the remains and whether they were obtained illegally. Larson currently faces charges including receiving stolen property and felony bail jumping in Fond du Lac County.
