Wisin announces ‘La Universidad del Perreo’ music and education project
Urban music icon Wisin has unveiled ‘La Universidad del Perreo’, an ambitious project that combines a 14-track studio album with an educational ecosystem dedicated to the history and production of reggaeton. Released under the W Entertainment label and distributed by Sony Music Latin, the initiative aims to document the genre's evolution from its 1990s roots to its current global status.
The educational component features three modules: the history and roots of reggaeton, urban composition and metrics, and music production and business. The platform has already reported over two million global pre-registrations. In-person masterclasses are scheduled to take place in San Juan, Miami, Bogotá, and Mexico City during the final quarter of the year.
Ivy Queen has been confirmed as the first instructor recruited for the project and will also collaborate on the upcoming album, which is set for release on September 3. The album's tracklist includes various legends of the genre, such as Don Chezina, Jowell & Randy, and Zion.
