Wisin discusses loss of daughter and daughter Yelena’s musical shift

Puerto Rican singer Wisin has spoken publicly about the loss of his daughter, Victoria, who passed away in 2016 shortly after birth due to Patau syndrome. In an interview, the former Wisin y Yandel artist shared how the tragedy and his subsequent spiritual journey have shaped his life.

Wisin discussed the emotional difficulty of filming the music video for ‘A dónde iré’, a song performed with his daughter Yelena in memory of Victoria. He noted that seeing a crib in the video scenes was particularly overwhelming. He also reflected on the period of desperation during his wife Yomaira’s pregnancy, noting that his faith has since become a central pillar of his life.

Wisin’s daughter, Yelena, has transitioned from urban music to Christian music, recently releasing her EP ‘Plenitud’. While Wisin initially expected her to follow his musical path, he has supported her decision by producing her work through Base de Fe, a new division of his music company, La Base.
