Dungeons & Dragons and World of Warcraft announce official crossover

Wizards of the Coast and Blizzard Entertainment are collaborating on a massive crossover titled ‘Dungeons & Dragons: World of Warcraft’. Part of the ‘Universes Beyond’ initiative, the tabletop RPG manual is scheduled for release on November 17, 2026. The project, led by lead designer James Wyatt, aims to adapt the world of Azeroth into a tabletop experience rather than a direct mechanical translation of the MMORPG.

The manual will feature 13 classes, 16 playable species, and over 60 spells, covering iconic regions such as the Eastern Kingdoms, Kalimdor, Northrend, and Pandaria. It includes redesigned dungeons, mythical bosses, and adapted professions like alchemy and herbalism. While the initial release will be in English, localized versions in Spanish, French, Italian, and German are expected in 2027.

Separately, Blizzard is developing ‘World of Warcraft: Forever’, a new server experience designed to reimagine the ‘Vanilla’ era of the game. Unlike the standard retail or Classic versions, ‘Forever’ focuses on horizontal progression and exploration, aiming to capture the nostalgic feel of the original game with modern improvements. Early beta testing has noted technical challenges regarding player immersion during zone transitions, as well as community interest in specific legacy quests.
