Dungeons & Dragons and World of Warcraft crossover

Overview

Wizards of the Coast and Blizzard Entertainment announced a collaboration titled ‘Dungeons & Dragons: World of Warcraft’. Part of the ‘Universes Beyond’ initiative, the project involves a tabletop RPG manual scheduled for release on November 17, 2026.

Lead designer James Wyatt stated the goal is to adapt the world of Azeroth into a tabletop experience, providing players with a level of freedom not found in the MMO or RTS versions. This allows players to interact with characters and make decisions that deviate from official lore. The 288-page book will map existing World of Warcraft classes to core D&D mechanics, supplemented by new subclasses, specializations, spells, and magic items. While some classes like Warrior, Rogue, and Mage offer direct translations, others such as Death Knight, Demon Hunter, and Shaman require more significant mechanical adaptations. The expansion will also feature new species, monsters, dungeons, and faction renown systems.
