Wizards of the Coast announces Magic: The Gathering Zeta Set
Wizards of the Coast has announced the Zeta Set, the first Magic: The Gathering Secret Lair release to be sold in booster packs. Developed in collaboration with the Brooklyn-based art collective MSCHF, the set features 121 cards designed with black-and-white, playtest-style art inspired by Richard Garfield’s original Alpha development cards.
Boosters will be available for purchase through the Secret Lair Chaos Vault starting September 2 at 12 p.m. ET, with a limit of 12 boosters per person. Each booster is priced at $19.92 and contains seven cards, including three commons, two uncommons, one rare or mythic rare, and one wildcard. The cards will be available in three distinct treatments: Photocopy, Photocopy Negative, and Color Banding.
The release has sparked discussion regarding its pricing, distribution, and aesthetic. High-value cards within the set include a stylized Chrome Mox, estimated to be worth over $150, as well as Mana Echoes, Urborg, Tomb of Yawgmoth, and Darksteel Monolith.
