Wizards of the Coast apologizes for Zeta Set sale disaster

Wizards of the Coast has issued an apology following a problematic release of the Zeta Set, a collaboration with the art collective MSCHF, on its Secret Lair retail platform. The company described the sale as “a disaster” and is currently investigating the cause of the technical failures.

Customers reported significant issues during the drop, including queue system malfunctions, difficulty placing orders, failure to receive order confirmations, and random order cancellations. While the sale was temporarily paused for ninety minutes to investigate unspecified technical issues, the product sold out shortly after sales resumed.

Wizards of the Coast stated they are working to determine if the root cause was an internal systems issue or external tampering. The company advised customers who received duplicate confirmation emails not to be alarmed and requested that those who believe they purchased the set but have not received confirmation within 24 hours contact customer support.
