Wizz Air cuts several routes in Romania, Timișoara airport hit hardest
Wizz Air announced a restructuring of its Romanian flight network that will eliminate multiple international routes and temporarily suspend one domestic connection. From the second half of September 2026 the airline will drop all flights from Timișoara to Prague, Berlin, Frankfurt Hahn, Nuremberg and Basel. The Craiova‑Napoli service will end on 24 October 2026, and the Brașov‑Nuremberg route will be cancelled permanently. The only temporary suspension concerns the Bucharest‑Turku line, halted from 29 June to 25 October 2026 before resuming.
The carrier cites adapting capacity to current market demand and improving route profitability. Passengers with existing tickets will be offered refunds, credit vouchers or rebooking on alternative flights. Despite the cuts, Wizz Air will launch new seasonal services, including a Bucharest‑Dubrovnik route from 1 July 2026 and several other summer connections from Romanian airports.
The changes affect airports in Timișoara, Craiova, Brașov and Bucharest and are part of a broader strategy of continuous network optimization that has seen previous route adjustments in recent months.
