Wizz Air expands flights and introduces AI tools for summer peak
Wizz Air will operate 1,200 flights per day this summer, adding 15 new routes, 19 aircraft and almost 3 million seats – about a 30 % increase over the same period last year. To handle the busiest time for European aviation, the airline has set up a reserve fleet, an on‑call hotline and an enlarged summer‑action team at its operations centre. Flights will be supported by artificial‑intelligence systems and closer cooperation with HungaroControl to bring forward early‑morning departures and improve schedule stability.
Passengers are asked to arrive at least two hours before departure and follow new boarding guidance. Wizz Air also launched several passenger services: a paid delay‑assistance option that automatically notifies travellers of delays and offers free re‑booking, the Wizz Link tool that consolidates separate bookings, and a Bluetooth‑based onboard ordering system for food and drinks. In May the carrier recorded a 99.99 % flight‑completion rate, with 82.67 % of flights arriving within 15 minutes of schedule.
