Wizz Air launches year‑round Palermo‑Tirana direct flight
Wizz Air will begin a new year‑round direct service between Palermo, Italy and Tirana, Albania, with the first flight scheduled for 27 October 2026. The route will operate three times a week – on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays – using Airbus A321neo aircraft.
The connection is part of the airline’s broader expansion at Palermo’s Falcone Borsellino airport, which will host 18 destinations in 13 countries by 2026. The airline cites strong historical, cultural and economic ties between Sicily and Albania, noting the sizeable Albanian community in Sicily that will benefit from easier travel for family, tourism and business purposes.
Gianfranco Battisti, chief executive of airport operator Gesap, said the route “strengthens economic, tourism and cultural links” and represents a “strategic mobility infrastructure” for the region. The launch coincides with Wizz Air’s planned base opening in Palermo in August 2026 and the addition of several other new routes from the city.
