Wizz Air launches new bases in Madrid and Valencia, adds seven routes

Wizz Air announced the creation of its first operational bases in Spain, opening a Madrid hub on 3 November and a Valencia hub on 2 November. The airline will station four Airbus A321neo aircraft across the two bases, initially deploying two aircraft in Valencia and two in Madrid, with a second Valencia aircraft arriving mid‑December.

The expansion brings seven new routes from Valencia—five domestic (Asturias, Bilbao, Santander, Santiago de Compostela, Palma de Mallorca) and two international (Brasov and Naples)—and adds connections from Madrid to Asturias and other Spanish cities. Additional international services include Madrid‑Pisa and flights from Valencia to Bucharest, Warsaw, Bratislava and Kyiv, while existing routes to London, Rome, Milan and Budapest will see higher frequencies. Wizz Air expects the bases to boost connectivity, create over 150 pilot and cabin‑crew jobs in Spain, and intensify competition with carriers such as Volotea, Vueling and Ryanair.
