Włókniarz Częstochowa hires Danish coach Patrick Hansen amid relegation fight
Polish speedway club Krono‑Plast Włókniarz Częstochowa, currently at the bottom of the PGE Ekstraliga, announced the appointment of Danish former rider Patrick Hansen as its new head coach. Hansen replaces Mariusz Staszewski, who lost all 11 matches in the league and left the club.
Hansen, 27, previously coached youth at Innpro ROW Rybnik and is recovering from a serious 2023 spinal injury that forced his retirement from professional riding. His contract runs until the end of the season and also includes responsibility for the club’s youth programme.
Włókniarz hopes a single win in the upcoming play‑down phase could secure its place in the top division; otherwise the team faces relegation to the second‑tier Metalkas 2 Ekstraliga and must rebuild its squad for the next season.
