Włókniarz Częstochowa coaching transition

Overview

In mid‑July 2026 the Polish speedway club Krono‑Plast Włókniarz Częstochowa began a search for a new manager after parting ways with Mariusz Staszewski. The club ruled out former rider‑coach Marek Cieślak, who chose to stay on as a television analyst, and mentioned several possible candidates, including Janusz Ślączka, Piotr Świst, Tomasz Bajerski and Piotr Żyto. At the same time the club discussed potential rider signings but cited budget limits that restricted recruitment of high‑profile talent. No appointment had been confirmed at that stage.

A week later, on 25 July 2026, the club announced the hiring of Danish former rider Patrick Hansen as head coach. Hansen, 27, replaced Staszewski after the latter lost all 11 league matches. He had previously coached youth at Innpro ROW Rybnik and was recovering from a serious spinal injury that ended his riding career. His contract runs to the end of the season and also covers the club’s youth programme. The appointment comes as Włókniarz battles relegation; a single win in the upcoming play‑down could keep the team in the top‑tier PGE Ekstraliga, otherwise it faces demotion to the second tier.
