Wolf pups confirmed in six Czech regions

Ecologists from Hnutí DUHA Šelmy have confirmed the presence of wolf pups in six different regions across the Czech Republic. These areas include the Lusatian and Ore Mountains, Beskydy, Šumava, Jeseníky, and the Broumov region.

In the Lusatian Mountains, camera traps captured pups in two locations, including a family likely led by a female with a permanent hind leg injury. In the Ore Mountains, a young pair successfully raised their first pups this year. Monitoring in the Jeseníky mountains also confirmed breeding in three separate territories, with pups appearing to be approximately three and a half months old.

Additional breeding activity was documented in the Beskydy mountains, both in the Vsetín and Moravian-Silesian areas, as well as in western Šumava. In the Broumov region, pups were documented in the Javořiny Mountains, while sightings in the Frýdlant area suggest two different nursing females may be present.
