Wolf population monitoring in Czech Republic

Overview

Ecologists and the DUHA Movement have confirmed the presence of wolf pups across several regions in the Czech Republic. Initial reports identified breeding activity in the Ore Mountains, Jeseníky, Beskydy, Lusatian Mountains, and the Broumov area. In the Ore Mountains, a new breeding pair was noted, while Jeseníky recorded pups belonging to a third generation of a specific pack.

Subsequent monitoring expanded the confirmed locations to six regions, including the Šumava mountains. Documentation included sightings in the Lusatian Mountains of a family likely led by a female with a permanent hind leg injury, and observations of a young pair in the Ore Mountains raising their first pups. In the Broumov region, pups were documented in the Javořiny Mountains, and sightings in the Frýdlant area suggested the presence of two different nursing females.
