Woman arrested at JKIA with cocaine valued at Ksh13.5 million

A Kenyan woman, Jane Waithera Wateri, has been arrested at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) while attempting to board a flight to Bangladesh. Wateri had been on a law enforcement watch list since last year.

Detectives from the Kenya Airports Criminal Investigations (KACI) intercepted the suspect following a stop order from the National Anti-Narcotics Investigations Bureau (NANIB). A search revealed three small bags containing approximately 3,383 grams of suspected cocaine, with an estimated street value of Ksh13,530,720.

Preliminary field tests confirmed the presence of cocaine. The suspect is currently being held at the JKIA Police Station as detectives from the National Anti-Narcotics Investigations Bureau and the Financial Investigations Unit (FIU) investigate the suspected trafficking network.
