Narcotics enforcement and arrests in Kenya

Overview

Law enforcement in Kenya has conducted several narcotics-related arrests involving different substances and methods of concealment.

In Nairobi, a woman was arrested after police discovered cannabis hidden inside a loaf of bread intended for a person in custody. A separate incident in Thika West involved a man who was apprehended following a motorcycle chase; police recovered 300 rolls of cannabis and three kilograms of the substance.

Later, at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, authorities intercepted a woman, identified as Jane Waithera Wateri, who was attempting to board a flight to Bangladesh. Wateri, who had been on a law enforcement watch list, was found in possession of approximately 3,383 grams of suspected cocaine with an estimated value of Ksh13,530,720.
