Woman charged in plot to bomb New York State Capitol

A 35-year-old woman has been charged with terrorism following an alleged plot to attack the New York State Capitol in Albany. According to court documents released Thursday, the suspect, an Islamic State supporter, expressed intentions to “destroy” the building and “kill senators” while they were in session.

According to the FBI, the woman planned to monitor security measures by holding picnics near the Capitol. She reportedly considered posing as a food delivery driver using a DoorDash bag to gain access to the legislative building to plant a bomb. After the attack, she intended to flee to Syria, though she allegedly told an informant she might return to target other locations, such as Times Square.

Federal agents arrested the woman on Wednesday after she reportedly obtained bomb components and a delivery bag.
