Vietnam authorities arrest multiple suspects for fraud and tax evasion

Authorities in Vietnam have conducted several high-profile arrests and legal proceedings involving fraud, tax evasion, and environmental crimes.

Vũ Thị Dung, Director of Explore Ha Giang, has been detained by Tuyên Quang police for alleged tax evasion involving billions of VND. In a separate case, Bùi Thị Thanh Tuyến, a former forestry official, was sentenced to over 13 years in prison for defrauding investors of more than 2.047 billion VND through fake real estate deals.

In Nghệ An, Võ Thị Ngân was arrested for allegedly misappropriating 19.7 billion VND by promising high returns on real estate investments. Meanwhile, in Hà Nội, authorities are investigating Phạm Linh Chi, a police officer accused of defrauding victims of 1.1 billion VND by claiming connections to high-ranking officials to facilitate illegal services.

Environmental and social crimes were also addressed. In Hương Khê, a woman is under investigation for destroying over 1.1 hectares of natural forest. In Kỳ Khang, an individual was fined 12.5 million VND for posting defamatory content online. Additionally, Hải Phòng police arrested Nguyễn Đăng Trường Giang for a series of scams involving the fraudulent rental and subsequent sale of cameras, motorbikes, and electronics.
