Woman transferred to Alagoas hospital after severe domestic assault

A 50‑year‑old woman was moved to the Hospital de Emergência do Agreste (HEA) in Arapiraca after suffering serious injuries in what police are treating as an attempted femicide in the rural area of Porto Real do Colégio, Alagoas. The assault, described as a series of punches and kicks by her husband, was reported by family members who said the violence had been ongoing for months. Police from the 11th Military Battalion responded, and the suspect fled the scene; searches continue. The victim remains under medical care while authorities await her recovery to obtain an official statement and further investigate the case.

The incident highlights ongoing concerns about gender‑based violence in Brazil, prompting continued police investigations and calls for stronger protective measures.
