Women secure 70% of new teaching posts in Galicia education exam

In the latest education opposition in Galicia, 1,054 candidates passed the selection process, of which 728 (69.1%) were women and 326 (30.9%) were men. The average score among successful candidates was 6.67 points. The regional government announced that only 1,054 of the 1,601 advertised positions were filled, leaving 547 vacancies unoccupied.

The top performers were highlighted: Ofelia Novo Fernández, a teacher of early childhood education, achieved the highest overall score of 8.4504, while Manuel Núñez Lugilde, a secondary‑school teacher, recorded a score of 8.32. Both candidates emphasized perseverance and extensive training as key to their success.
