Women's empowerment and governance initiatives launched in Chad and Togo

In Chad, the Ministry of Women and Early Childhood and the PILIER Project, supported by the World Bank, launched a two-day workshop in N’Djamena to strengthen service providers' capacity to handle gender-based violence (GBV). The initiative brought together approximately fifty participants, including technical directors, social integration centers, medical professionals, civil society organizations, and traditional authorities. The training focuses on fundamental GBV concepts, legal frameworks in Chad, and the mapping of medical, psychosocial, and judicial referral mechanisms to ensure all reports are addressed.

In Togo, the Association for the Valorization of Peasant Initiatives (AVIP-Togo) conducted training sessions for women in the Zio 2 and Avé 2 communes as part of the Dezon Project. These sessions, held in mid-September 2026, aimed to enhance female leadership and participation in local governance. The curriculum included training on local governance mechanisms and the Code of Persons and the Family, empowering women to better understand their rights and play a more active role in community decision-making processes.
