Women's rights and empowerment initiatives launched in Senegal and Guinea
In Kaolack, Senegal, the association KALAMU organized a ‘Café Livre’ to mark Pink October, focusing on breast and cervical cancer awareness. Using the theme ‘La confidence noie la douleur,’ inspired by the work of Mariama Bâ, the event utilized literature and dialogue to encourage women to break the silence surrounding these health issues.
In Conakry, Guinea, the government, supported by UNICEF, officially launched the ‘Mouvement des filles’ (Girls' Movement). The initiative aims to empower adolescent girls and young women by providing a platform for leadership, expression, and participation in public decision-making processes. The launch was attended by several government ministers and representatives from UNICEF.
