Wong Chen resigns as Subang Member of Parliament

Wong Chen, the Member of Parliament for Subang, has resigned from his position effective 5:00 PM on August 10. A member of the People's Justice Party (PKR), Wong confirmed he submitted his resignation letter to Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul on August 5.

Wong stated that the timing of the announcement followed a gentleman’s agreement with the Speaker to withhold details until August 10. He noted that the early submission was intended to allow parliamentary officers three working days to manage the vacancy. Additionally, Wong announced that the honorific title ‘Yang Berhormat’ will be removed from all his correspondence and signage starting next month.

The resignation follows internal political friction within PKR. Wong was among several MPs reportedly affected by the blocking of constituent funding allocations via the MyKHAS portal. Wong described the decision as his own, citing frustrations over being restricted from accessing the system and the appointment of coordinators that hindered his ability to perform his duties.
