Resignation of Subang MP Wong Chen

Overview

Wong Chen, the Member of Parliament for Subang and a member of the People's Justice Party (PKR), initiated his resignation process in early August 2026. On August 7, Wong informed Dewan Rakyat Speaker Johari Abdul of his intent to resign, following reports that he and other PKR MPs had been barred from the MyKhas funding portal.

On August 10, Wong officially resigned from his position, effective at 5:00 PM. He confirmed that his resignation letter had been submitted to the Speaker on August 5, noting that the delay in the public announcement was due to a “gentleman’s agreement” with the Speaker. Wong cited frustrations regarding restricted access to the MyKHAS system and the appointment of coordinators as factors that hindered his ability to perform his duties.
