Wood construction plant fire in Eberhardzell causes multi‑million damage

A large fire broke out at a wood‑construction business in the Füramoos district of Eberhardzell, in Germany’s Biberach county, on Thursday afternoon. The blaze engulfed the entire production area, damaging multiple buildings and halls. Hundreds of firefighters from surrounding municipalities and the plant’s own fire unit fought the flames for hours.

The damage is estimated in the lower double‑digit‑million‑euro range. In addition to the plant, a nearby car dealership suffered extensive heat and spark damage to up to 50 vehicles, pushing its loss beyond one million euros. One employee was lightly injured by smoke inhalation and received on‑scene treatment. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and authorities continue to examine the incident.

Local authorities used the Nina warning app to alert residents about heavy smoke, advising them to keep windows and doors closed and to switch off ventilation systems. No fatalities were reported.
