Woolworth recalls four toys in Germany over asbestos contamination
The German retailer Woolworth has issued a nationwide recall of four toy products after tests indicated possible asbestos contamination in the sand used. The items affected are the scented "Stretchy Sand" (Watermelon and Blueberry flavours), the 12‑centimetre "Stretchmaus", and the "Stretchy Soldier". The sand in question is sourced from China, and earlier asbestos detections in similar sand were reported in Australia and New Zealand. Consumers can return the toys to any Woolworth store and receive a full refund without needing a receipt.
