Woolworths and Zenobē secure 148 electric trucks for Australian delivery
The Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC) has pledged up to $22 million to back electric‑truck specialist Zenobē Australia in acquiring a fleet of up to 148 battery‑electric trucks (Foton T5) for Woolworths’ last‑mile grocery deliveries. The trucks will be leased to Woolworths across New South Wales, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia and South Australia, with the full rollout expected by the end of 2026 (or early 2027). Under the lease model Zenobē retains ownership and provides maintenance, warranties and upgrades, allowing Woolworths to use the vehicles without end‑of‑life risk. The project is described as the largest electric‑truck fleet deployment in Australia and part of a broader CEFC effort that has already committed more than $260 million to electric‑vehicle projects to help decarbonise the nation’s transport sector, which accounts for about 23 % of emissions.
