Workers' Party launches digital and religious outreach for Lula reelection
The Workers' Party (PT) in Brazil is implementing a multi-faceted strategy to secure Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva’s reelection in 2026, focusing heavily on digital mobilization and religious outreach.
On the digital front, the party has embraced a pop-aesthetic social media presence through the ‘Lulaverso’ Instagram account. This initiative uses curated audiovisual content, including memes and TikTok challenges, to engage followers. A dedicated platform called ‘Pode Espalhar’ serves as a repository for supporters to easily distribute campaign materials.
Simultaneously, the PT is launching the National Evangelical Committee with Lula, aiming to establish over 1,000 local committees to engage the evangelical electorate. This move follows polling data showing a significant gap in religious support: while Lula leads in the general electorate, Flávio Bolsonaro holds a 62% lead among evangelicals compared to Lula’s 29%. The party's broader religious strategy also includes outreach to Catholics, Spiritists, and Afro-Brazilian religions.
