Workers protest labor rights at Diyarbakır City Hospital site

Approximately 75 construction workers at the Diyarbakır City Hospital site have entered their eighth day of protest regarding working conditions and labor rights. Members of the Yapı-Yol İş Sendikası (Yapı-Yol İş Union) are demanding the recognition of legal rights, including fair wages, overtime pay, severance, and the freedom to organize without pressure or threats of dismissal.

Protesters have alleged that they are facing mobbing and intimidation due to their union membership. Additional grievances include unfair wage deductions, social security premiums being paid based on minimum wage rather than actual earnings, and inadequate occupational health and safety measures.

Diyarbakır Metropolitan Municipality Co-Mayors Serra Bucak and Emin Ay visited the site to support the workers, calling for authorities to address the issues and ensuring that the rights of laborers are protected during the public investment project.
