World College Radio Day announces 26-hour global marathon
The 16th annual World College Radio Day (WCRD) will feature a 26-hour global marathon broadcast via Live365. Under the theme “HOPE — Always In The Air!”, the event aims to showcase the role of student-run broadcasting as a cultural incubator and training ground for journalists and musicians.
The marathon begins on Thursday, October 1 at 8 PM EST, originating from the College of the Marshall Islands. The broadcast will circle the globe, handing off coverage between student stations across the Pacific, Asia, Europe, the Americas, and beyond. Participating regions include the Marshall Islands, Fiji, New Zealand, Australia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Pakistan, Turkey, various European nations, Canada, and the United States.
Singer-songwriter Andy Grammer serves as the event ambassador, providing a recorded Q&A interview for participating stations. The WCRD is an outreach initiative of the College Radio Foundation, which supports diverse student media outlets including FM, AM, online, and cable radio.
