Municipalities across Mexico, Argentina and Chile launch fairs, clean‑ups and tree‑planting drives on World Environment

Communities in several Mexican states organised environmental fairs and tree‑planting programmes to mark World Environment Day. In Metepec, Zinacantepec, Atizapán, Cozumel, Escobedo, Huatulco and other towns, officials opened recycling‑collection points, inaugurated pollinator gardens and distributed vouchers for schools, families and local businesses. Over 150 volunteers in Cozumel cleared three tonnes of waste from Playa Mezcalitos, while more than 20 exhibitors took part in the Atizapán fair. In Argentina’s Rawson, a tyre‑exchange campaign turned old rubber into rubber‑tiles for public plazas. Chile’s Viña del Mar botanical garden hosted a reforestation event with native species after a recent fire. Across the region, municipal health and social services urged residents to adopt everyday practices – separating waste, composting, reducing single‑use plastics and conserving water – as part of a broader push for sustainable living.
