Savuto, Reventino and Monterazzone Communities Mobilize for Demographic and Youth Initiatives

On World Population Day, the United Nations called attention to global demographic challenges, urging governments to promote reproductive health, gender equality and sustainable development. In Italy’s interior, the Savuto and Reventino areas face persistent depopulation, an ageing population and shrinking birth rates, which threaten local schools, health services and economic vitality.

At the same time, the town of Monterazzone near Viterbo organized two weekend festivals to raise money for a new social‑aggregation centre. The events, run by the Amici di Monterazzone association, will fund a space for cultural activities, workshops and inter‑generational exchange, providing a hub for young people and seniors alike.

Both initiatives aim to strengthen community cohesion, improve quality of life and counter the demographic decline affecting many small Italian towns.
