World Robot Conference 2026 showcases humanoid AI advancements
The World Robot Conference 2026 (WRC 2026) was held in Beijing, China, from August 19 to 23, featuring over 300 companies and approximately 3,000 cutting-edge products. The event focused on the theme of human-robot coexistence and the fusion of production and demand.
While Japanese companies like Fanuc, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, and Epson maintain a strong presence in industrial articulated robots for welding and precision assembly, Chinese firms are accelerating the social implementation of humanoid and service robots within the physical AI sector.
Notable demonstrations included humanoid robots used by a Mercedes-Benz dealership in Beijing for customer reception and marketing, which reportedly contributed to an 18% increase in foot traffic. Other technologies showcased included autonomous security robots, automated kitchen robots, power-assist wearable gear for heavy lifting, and fully autonomous delivery vehicles capable of carrying 1,100kg.
