World Space Week 2026 celebrates the Rocket Revolution

World Space Week 2026 is being observed from October 4 to 10 under the theme ‘Rocket Revolution’. This United Nations-declared initiative celebrates the rapid transformation of space access, driven by reusable rockets, commercial providers, universities, and new national actors.

The dates commemorate the 1957 launch of Sputnik 1 and the 1967 Outer Space Treaty. Global activities include educational programs, scientific workshops, and media programming. In Oklahoma, NASA experts are engaging over 1,000 students in STEM activities. In Mexico City, the UNIVERSUM museum is hosting workshops and solar observations. Discovery Channel and Odisea are broadcasting special programming on space history and exploration.

In Spain, Seville is hosting over 40 activities to highlight its growing aerospace industry, which is a key economic driver for the region. Other observances include community stargazing challenges using smart telescopes and curated film lists for public engagement with space science.
